Sarodiyas

Dear Hans,
thank you so much for all these Sarodiyas. Liked especially the Sharan Rani recording (is there another part of this concert?) and the Jotin Bhattacharya. But where is his "Bhairavi (avec d'autres ragas)"?
As there are only very few recordings by him (only 1 EMI India LP) I would find it very interesting if you could share the french LP you mentioned. I never had heard of this LP before.
Best greetings and again many thanks

Dear Tawfiq, Entirely my pleasure. The series will be continued (Partho Sarathy is next in line) Sharan Rani's Kirwani is all I have from that concert. Can't remember what happened to the rest. I'll send you a mediafire link for the Jotin Bhattacharya LP (mail me on: bosmart@free.fr). As to the Bhairavi, it's part of the raagmala in the last item. BTW I'll try to add some V.R. Rao on the flute series soon.

Dear Hans,
Narendranath Dhar's last and apparently main teacher was Amjad Ali Khan. One hears in his music a lot of Amjad, but unfortunately hardly any traces of Radhika Mohan Maitra.
Best

This is what IRC SRA site says about
Narendranath Dhar :

"Shagird of two of the most prolific, but yet methodically differing masters of the sarode, Pandit Radhika Mohan Moitra and Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Narendra Nath Dhar possesses a unique Seniya baaj. Born in Kolkata, he was initially groomed by his father, Nemaichand Dhar and later, Samarendranath Sikdar. Pure and untainted raagdari is Narendra's forte.

A winner of the All India Radio (AIR) music competition and a ecipient of a host of other awards and scholarships, Narendra Nath, a Science graduate from Kolkata University, teaches music at the Bhatkhande Music Institute, Lucknow. He is alsalso a regular performer for AIR and Doordarshan."

Listening again to the recording I can but agree with the influence Amjad Ali Khan has on Narendra Nath's playing style. BTW the sarodiya thread will soon come to a (temporary) end. Tejendra Majumdar is to close the series for the time being.

I would suggest to also include Pakistani sarod maestro Asad Qizilbash, who is a disciple of Amjad Ali Khan.
(some of his videos are on youtube)

I would like to but I try to publish music which is not available elsewhere and I have nothing by this musician. Thanks for tuning in!
